Roberto Diago Querol born in 1920 died in1955.
Graduated from San Alejandro Fine Arts Academy as professor of painting and drawing in 1941, Roberto Diago already attended in 1937 the Estudio Libre de Pintura y Escultura (Open Studio of Painting and Sculpture), where his creative liberty enrichened. From 1941 to 1955 he made all his artistic production, a group of highly original works. In 1945 he was appointed professor of the Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Matanzas, (Matanzas Province Visual Arts School) and from them to 1949, he exhibited in Argentina, Sweeden, Guatemala, France and the former Soviet Union. With his work he travelled to United States of America, Haiti, Mexico and Spain.
Besides, he worked wood engravement (xilografía), he created people´s theatre set designs and illustrated some stories and books. The presence of surealist elements, Picassian moments and abstraction, describe an evolution in his work which was definitely interrupted with his passing away.
